The Marshall County Career Innovation Center (Innovation Center) in Plymouth, Indiana is a $13.7 million workforce development initiative supported by a $10 million New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) investment. Located on the campus of Plymouth High School, the 140,000 square-foot facility is designed to expand access to career and technical education for students from 10 rural school districts and adults across Marshall County.
Marshall County currently has hundreds of open jobs, many of which have gone unfilled due to a lack of qualified workers. The Innovation Center directly responds to this need by offering job training programs in high-demand fields such as advanced manufacturing, health sciences, computer science, construction trades, and early childhood education—careers that typically pay a living wage.
The facility will serve more than 1,400 individuals annually. It includes a 32-slot subsidized childcare center to support adult learners and working parents. Programs are employer-aligned and focused on skill development that leads to immediate job placement. The center’s design includes new and renovated space for specialized training, including shop areas, a greenhouse, and industry-standard labs.
The Innovation Center leverages union labor and local trade partnerships to ensure hands-on experience and career readiness. The New Markets Tax Credit investment in the project positions Marshall County to meet current workforce demands while fostering long-term economic stability for its residents.
